Salman
For the past eight years at Beyond Reports, I have coordinated publication projects and provided communications, marketing, website and systems consultation for various corporations, NGOs and United Nations agencies. I generally coordinate all aspects of the process, from hiring writers, researchers, photographers, designers, editors, publicists, marketers and translators, to working with printers, programmers and distributors. In all cases, I help clients realize their communication projects within their budget and in a way that works best for their end-goals.
As managing director of The Omikron Group Inc., a communications firm I established in 1988, I regularly generated, coordinated and implemented marketing, branding and promotional strategies for publishers, firms and creative clients.
I am often able to find solutions where none were thought to exist, and I ensure a job gets done properly and efficiently. I am an excellent facilitator with a knack for getting the most out of creative individuals who may not always appreciate the corporate world’s more rigid structures. I also have 22 years’ experience in publishing, writing, editing, production, design, distribution and new technologies.
After receiving my Bachelor of Arts degree in Mass Communication from York University in Toronto, Canada, I went on to become a researcher and published author and have given lectures across Canada and in Beijing, Seoul and Central Asia on the topics of media relations, technology, publishing, marketing and business presentations.
I have been fortunate that my clients and work schedule have enabled me to take time to travel, which is a great joy. I have visited more than 30 countries, mainly in Central and South East Asia, but am looking forward to exploring Africa and South America in the future. I am currently working on a non-fiction book about my travels through a few of the “-stans” (Afghanistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan).
I often take cooking lessons when I travel, as food is another passion of mine. I have had a fabulous time learning to cook in the most amazing, bizarre kitchens and at street food carts in Bhutan, Nepal, Tibet, Bangladesh, South Korea and China. Together with a photographer (www.StrongSnaps.com), a web designer and another writer, I am working on StreetFoodAsia.com, a website that will showcase our images, recipes and experiences.
